Monthly Board Meeting Minutes

US PROPELLER CLUB, PORT OF EVANSVILLE, IN BOARD MEETING:

****Minutes from July 25, 2012 Board Meeting****

Meeting opened 6:00 at Hadi Shrine.

1. Motion was made by Bruce Floyd to approve last months Minutes Roy Adams seconded motion.

2. Motion was made by Bob Farmer and seconded by Roy Adams to accept financial report.

3. Elections: Need to add Mike Kilgore to the Ballot because he is coming back on.

4. Erin Howard from River Works Discovery has contacted Ron Kolb about a donation from the club to be used for River projects in our area. Bob Aldrich mentioned at our last meeting that the Tri-State Food Bank is struggling to get donations. Ron Riecken made a motion to donate $500.00 to each charity. Bruce Floyd seconded motion.

5. At the next meeting Katie will ask for additional donations from members when they sign in for the Food Bank. Jay Gilbert is going to check and see if ADM would match our $500.00 donation to the Food Bank.

6. Ron Kolb is still trying to set up a time to get together with Shirlene to go over the email account.

7. Bruce Floyd made a motion to nominate Jay Davis as Maritime Person of the year, Greg Minnette seconded motion. Bob Farmer is going to email someone with the Corp of Engineers to get a bio for Jay

8. At the last meeting we agreed to nominate Jack Cunningham for Port person of the year. Katie and Ron Riecken will come up with a bio for Jack.

9. Roy Adams would like for us to set up some kind of agenda yearly so that things are not done so last minute. He’d like us to go through the previous monthly minutes to set up some kind of agenda.

10. Ron Riecken would like to get a list somehow from National with the names and contact information for the previous members in the Cincinnati Club. Some of those members might still want to be members of a Propeller Club so they could attend meetings and conventions.

11. October’s monthly meeting will still be at Corn Island on the 10th of October. We are not going to have a monthly meeting in November, instead have another meeting on October 24th, to take advantage of the Belle of Cincinnati coming to Evansville again for a dinner cruise. We will also be rescheduling our November board meeting because it falls the day before Thanksgiving.

12. Katie will register six members for the convention. If Jim Husk wants to go we will take care of his registration at a later date.

13. Bruce Floyd would like to take some time with some of the other board members and go through some of the old documents that are stored in file cabinets.

14. Bruce Floyd made a motion to adjourn Bob Farmer seconded motion.

Meeting opened 6:05 at Hadi Shrine.

1.  Motion was made by Bruce Floyd to approve last months Minutes Roy Adams seconded motion.

2.  Motion was made by Jay Davie and seconded by Jeff McCutchan to accept financial report.

3. Old Business: Roy Adams called Bob Aldrich to get a status update about the golf outing and at this time 18 teams have signed up.

4. Maritime Day will be held Saturday May 12 at the River Heritage Day in Henderson. Ron Riecken made a motion to donate $750.00 to the River Heritage Day Roy Adams seconded the motion. The Club will have a booth set up and will be playing The Quiet Resource video at the event. The gold level sponsorship will also include tickets to the crawfish boil for the board members that help that day.   

5. Holly’s House is having an event of June 9th during the Shrine Fest and has asked for a donation. It is a boat parade on the river that is pirate themed. Ron Riecken made a motion to donate at the $250.00 level and Ron Kolb seconded the motion.  

6. Bruce Floyd mentioned having another Toyota Tour for the November meeting so that the members that didn’t get a chance to go can tour the plant.

7. Shirlene is looking into ways to make our website faster and more efficient so that we can get it better up to date and have more information available for our visitors.  

8. The Commander of the Corp of Engineers will be at Mulzer’s meeting to talk to the club.     

9. Katie will check with Bob Farmer about the Gene Austin award for Butch and see if he is able to attend.

2.  Motion was made by Jack Cunningham and seconded by Greg Minnette to accept financial report.

3. Old Business: Bob Aldrich gave us an update on the 2012 Golf Outing. Jack Cunningham made a motion and was seconded by Ron Riecken to change the Golf Scramble to Rolling Hills with a small total price increase of $351.12.

4. Katie will be sending out the quarterly post cards and will mail the sign up sheets for the Golf Scramble at the same time.  She will also send Shirlene notice to post the sign up sheet online.  

5. Website: Ron Kolb suggested changing the front of the website with a picture of the city front in Evansville. Also, adding more links on the website to more companies and river resources. Everyone will look for some interesting pictures for the website and bring them to the next board meeting.

6. Every meeting we are going to try to take more pictures of our events and programs for the website.       

7. The Mt Vernon meeting in July will be inside due to the heat. The place hasn’t been set yet, but Jeff McCutchan will be checking on it. The meeting will either be at the Port or at the Country Club in Mt. Vernon.

8. Roy Adams gave us a great update for the 2014 Convention in Louisville, KY. He has had 150 rooms blocked at The Galt House. Roy has been involved in some conference calls concerning events for the convention. He’s like to have the Belle of Cincinnati for a dinner cruise and the Belle of Louisville for a lunch event with bourbon tasting.

Meeting opened 6:04 at Hadi Shrine.

1.  Motion was made by Jack Cunningham to approve last months Minutes Bruce Floyd seconded motion.

2.  Motion was made by Jay Davis and seconded by Bruce Floyd to accept financial report.

3. Old Business: Ron Riecken Greg Minnette & Katie Riecken met at Media Mix while Ernie Hicks was recorded for the updates to the Quiet Resources video. We viewed the 13 minute long updated video at the meeting.

4. Denise Douglas called Katie about the River Day on May 10th in Henderson. She would like someone to show the video during the day. We would set up a booth with chairs so guest could watch the Quiet Resources video.   

5. Website: Update the website with past meeting information on what they missed by not attending, add the minutes of the board meetings to the website so members can view them. We would like  a link to our video maybe on YouTube & we discussed trying to get some local businesses to advertise on the website. Besides just the ones that are members.

6. Jeff McCutchan will talk to Mt. Vernon Barge about having the July meeting inside. Also, look into having the meeting at the Port inside and running the Quiet Resource video during the meeting.   

7. Bob Farmer is going to write a small press release about the new prop shop to add to our website.

8. March meeting is full. People can join us after the tour at the Log Inn to eat, but the tour is full.  

9. 2014 Convention will be in Louisville, KY. We need to form some committees for the convention. We have to raise money and have some pretty big sponsors for the event. Jay Davis mentioned someone talking to the Corp at the Mulzer meeting in May to set up a tour of the McAlpine Lock and dam during the convention.

10. Bob Farmer made a motion to handout an annual Gene Austin award every year at Mulzer’s camp in May. Bruce Floyd seconded the motion all in favor. He would like to have a short explanation of who Gene Austin was and how much he did for the club.

11. Jeff McCutchan made a motion that Butch Branson receive the Gene Austin award in 2012 for all the work and contributing he’s done for the club. Bob Farmer will take care of the plaque.

12 Bob Aldridge is still committed to having the golf outing and is working on it. We haven’t heard if it will be at Henderson or someplace else. We discussed having another golf outing for the members in the fall.

13. Jack made the motion to adjourn and Bruce seconded motion.
